A practical checkup for your page metadata
Check the information that describes your page before trying to optimize it.
Inspect the source
Paste the page’s HTML source into the metadata checker. Inspect the title, description, canonical URL, robots directive, and social tags. The tool reads the supplied HTML; tags inserted later by JavaScript may be absent.
Fix missing basics
Write a unique title and a useful summary. Check that a canonical URL identifies your preferred version of the page. Confirm that robots directives reflect whether you intend the page to be indexed.
Review sharing metadata
Open Graph tags help describe shared links. Verify the title and description and use an absolute image URL for your share image. Social platforms may cache older versions after you update a page.
Interpret findings
A missing tag is a prompt to investigate, not a universal ranking penalty. Metadata checks cannot evaluate the quality of your content, guarantee indexing, or predict rankings. Test the visible content and links as well.
